"Sarala Dasa had no systematic early education, and what he achieved through self-education was attributed to the grace of Sarala, goddess of devotion and inspiration. Though his early name was Siddheswara Parida, he was later known as Sarala Dasa,or 'by the boon of Sarala'. Sidheswar Pradhan born into a Shudra family in Kalinga,Tentulipada,Jagatsinghpur district. Siddeshwara does not work since childhood. Even so, his wife is always upset with him. One day there was a quarrel between Siddeshwar and his wife, he left the house and sat in a lonely place crying and singing songs. At that time Goddess Maa Sarala stopped and listened to his singing and gave him the power to compose beautiful poems."
