Mandi' is the story of a few courtesans in a brothel which is located in the heart of a city. Some politicians of the district want the place for it's real estate value, as it stands on prime location. They mask their personal gains, and protest against the brothel in the name of morality. The politicians offer an alternative residence for the prostitutes, but the place is miles away, isolated from the city. Will Rukmini Bai (Shabana Azmi) and the other girls of the brothel agree to this?
