A wealthy and charitable young man, Jai Mehta (Arjun Rampal) visits a deaf and dumb school and falls in love with one of its teachers, Tia Sharma (Aishwarya Rai). When Tia introduces her fiancé, Raj (Priyanshu Chatterjee), Jai is left heartbroken and takes up drinking. One night, inebriated Jai's car collides with Raj and Tia's. The impact instantly kills Raj and critically injures Tia. When Tia gains consciousness, she is unable to recollect her troubled past. Jai takes it upon himself to care for her. Gradually Tia falls for Jai and proposes marriage to him. But the guilt-ridden Jai faces a dilemma whether to confess his guilt or build a marriage on the foundation of lies and deceit.
